Bolsa Chica Wetlands Walk & Beach Picnic
Join us for our most popular hike, a Saturday MORNING stroll for Birding...or Flirting!
Saturday, May 3
9:30 a.m.
Please note CHANGE OF TIME from an AFTERNOON HIKE to a MORNING HIKE!
The trail is very easy and a lot of fun. It's approximately 1.5 mile loop around the water inlet and will take about an hour. Sorry no bicycles or dogs on the trail due to the nesting. For the hike, bring water, sun screen and a shady hat (binoculars and cameras optional). After the hike, there will be a picnic at Sunset Beach, so bring dinner and a beach towel. Park at the Interpretive Center parking lot. If it's full, park for free across the street at Sunset Beach (behind the Jack in the Box).
Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is one of California's most significant coastal wetlands. The sanctuary is a popular attraction for tourists and local residents. The wetlands are 1200 acres of some of the last remaining tidal habitat. We'll see nesting and fishing birds, sea hares, round stingrays, squirrels, falcons and many of the hundreds of birds that we will see are threatened or endangered. Last year we actually saw an endangered Snowy Plover on her nest.

Directions: Meet at the Interpretive Center at the SE corner of Warner and Pacific Coast Highway. Take the 405, exit Studebaker, turn right (south) to 2nd St. Turn right (west) on 2nd St to PCH. Turn left (south) on PCH and the entrance is 4.3 miles SE of 2nd St. on PCH @ 3842 Warner Avenue.
Members: Free; Nonmembers: $5
